The advantage of using a solar panel is that it can heat 70% of the water that a 3 bedroom house needs. Some great recycling facts is that recycling in the US has increased to 40% in 2005, which is a lot better than it was before. Along with this, the amount of trash form 1995 to 2005 has decreased by 9 million tons. Some other facts are: almost 90% of batteries are recycled, 90% of glass is reused, 55% of office paper is recycled, 1.4 million tons of plastic was recycled in 1999, and almost 100% of steel is re-used. Now, for the scary facts that show edvidence against going green. Installing a wind turbine can cost up to $4,000. Some facts about trash is that 44 billion soda cans went into landfills in 1999. In 2005, there was 246 million tons of trash just in the US, which is around 5 pounds of trash per person, per day. From 1960 to 2001, the paper amount thrown out increased by a third (82 million tons of paper). So, there is many good and bad facts about going green.
